John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler's TLC Match Stipulation Should Not Surprise Fans

Next

John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler at WWE TLC.  We all pretty much saw that one coming, right?  But, John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler at WWE TLC with Dolph’s Money in the Bank briefcase on the line? That’s the part that maybe we did not count on, or were hoping was not going to occur.  But the truth is, it’s a scenario that was bound to happen.
Indeed, the moment the announcement was made on the Dec. 3 edition of Monday Night Raw, while it was surprising, it was also somehow expected.
Very expected.
At this point, Cena’s supporters would likely take that last comment to mean that I believe John just slid in and stole Ziggler’s thunder as championship contender.  So, that must mean I’m upset at the guy, right?
Actually, it’s not anger that caused me to write this piece, it was part disappointment, part curiosity.
Raw_1018_photo_056_crop_exact photo by wwe.com
Let’s be honest here, the fact is that no one should have been shocked that Dolph was “forced” to put his contract on the line against Cena at TLC.  John is the top guy in the company after all, and despite the fact that he has spent the entire year that CM Punk has been WWE Champion merely chasing the belt, we all knew he would get back to it eventually.
We perhaps just did not know it would happen like this.
For the past few months, Dolph Ziggler has been doing what he always does: building his reputation. Week in and week out, he does nothing but get in the ring and perform.  Match after match, he brings everything he has and proves why he is one of the best hands in the company.
Raw_1018_photo_111_crop_exact photo by wwe.com
He does not win every match.  His won/loss record at times is nothing to brag about.  But we as fans get so wrapped up statistics, in who goes over and who doesn’t, that sometimes we end up missing the point.
Ziggler is establishing himself in the ring and earning his stripes in the process.  While we sit back and analyze his matches and his direction, the way we do with so many other WWE Superstars, the better he gets and the more ground he gains.
So, time for the million-dollar question.  Has it all been for nothing?
The thought of Cena taking that blue briefcase away from Dolph is likely too much for some fans handle.  John is Mr. WWE, the man who always comes out on top, but to do it the expense of a younger Superstar who is still trying to grab that main event spotlight?

WWE Needs to Go Old School After CM Punk Injury Changes TLC PPV

Now that the news has come down from the WWE, and most notably Vince McMahon, that CM Punk has suffered a knee injury that will keep him out of the upcoming TLC PPV, the WWE needs to go in another direction with its champion.
I may not be the first to propose such a move, but shouldn’t the WWE consider a wrestling tournament to decide who will carry the title toward the Royal Rumble and a match with The Rock, or possibly a match at WrestleMania?
In a statement released by WWE.com, McMahon states that his intention is to keep the title on Punk while he is heeling from his injury sustained Monday night.
“CM Punk will be in no condition to defend the WWE Title against Ryback at the TLC Pay-Per-View on Sunday, Dec. 16. However, Ryback does deserve a WWE Title match against CM Punk and will have the opportunity in the very near future.”
Back in the day when the WWF Title was upheld and "The Million Dollar Man," Ted DiBiase, “bought” the championship from Andre the Giant, it was a great thing for the company.  It also showcased stars that the company had within its roster who “had a chance” to win the most coveted title in wrestling.
A title tournament here makes so much sense and makes me question the WWE’s thought process with this unexpected injury.
The writers and management had to think on its feet to make Ryback an instant contender when John Cena was injured. This would certainly be one of those opportunities to prove they can come up with a great idea and stick to it.
The idea that Ryback is now in a six-man match with Team Hell No against The Shield does nothing to get me excited about the TLC PPV.
A tournament that could showcase The Miz, Ryback, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, John Cena and Wade Barrett gets me jazzed just thinking about it. And for once, and I am not trying to steal any of my fellow Bleacher Report F/C C.I.M’s thunder, going old school is the way to go.
It could also lead to a chance for Ryback to challenge Barrett or Ziggler in the final, or maybe we see Cena and Ryback fight it out for a chance to claim the title.
There are so many more options to choose from.
This is a more exciting way for the WWE to end the 2012 year on a high note and have a chance to prepare for 2013.
And if anyone is listening out there, since Punk’s timetable for his recuperation is still unknown, it also means that The Miz could steal the show and go into the Royal Rumble as champion.
Personally, the idea of The Miz vs. The Rock is a great get for the WWE.
After his performance the other night on Raw, it is proof that he could be the next big thing again and headline WrestleMania 29 (against Punk).

WWE Title Winner at Survivor Series Depends on The Rock

WWE Title Winner at Survivor Series Depends on The Rock

15_rock_cena_roadwm-1hd_crop_exact All Images Obtained From WWE.com
Deciding who is the favorite to win the WWE title match at Survivor Series is an extremely complex matter, since there is no definitive answer.
This is an extremely exciting prospect for all WWE fans as there can be a genuine debate over the merits each wrestler brings to the table, both in the imaginary world of the WWE and in the fickle world of professional wrestling booking. Every decision that has been made by the WWE over recent weeks has been carefully looked into, and fans are none the wiser to who will walk away as the champion.
Ryback looks to be favorite from a purely wrestling perspective, as the monster has torn through the roster and was only denied at Hell in a Cell because of crooked referee Brad Maddox. Yet his character is under-developed, which is makes his role as champion difficult to envisage, and the lack of credible challengers—after the way he has been booked—may cause additional issues.
John Cena could well slide into the role as champion after being away from the title for over a year. He has certainly beaten a number of top guys in recent weeks and has reformed his character enough that critics would accept him as champion once again. However, Cena is currently in the middle of a scandal angle with AJ Lee, Vickie Guererro and Dolph Ziggler and that would be heavily complicated by Cena being the champion.
The incumbent champion CM Punk looks the weakest on paper, having gotten away with the title—rather than holding onto it confidently—over the past couple of pay-per-views. He was also made to look like the fall guy at the end of Raw. Yet there are plenty of reasons to keep the title on Punk, who would pass the one year mark as champion if he were to retain the belt.
Raw_1000_photo_086hd_crop_exact
Punk is definitely the strongest heel left on Raw—despite being weakened over the last few months—and has plenty of opponents to go up against. He is also gaining a reputation of being able to get out of almost any situation, and this will be confirmed if he escapes with the title against both Ryback and Cena at the same time. These are compelling reasons to keep him as champion.
Ultimately, the decision over who will win the belt will come down to who the WWE wants to face The Rock in two months at the Royal Rumble.
This means the next champion is unlikely to be Ryback, who does not hold the esteem of his two more experienced opponents, although this does not completely rule him out of a title win. He could pick the belt up at Survivor Series and then lose it again at the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, but this would take away from his monster character significantly.
It is more likely that Ryback will be left out of the final decision at Survivor Series—probably as a result of some outside interference—in order for him to continue his development outside the title spotlight.
This leaves Cena and Punk, who are both legitimate candidates to face Rock. The most likely course of action is that one will face “The People’s Champion” at the Royal Rumble, while the other gets a chance at WrestleMania.
Rumors are circulating that Punk may be given the headline spot at WrestleMania 29, after holding the belt for so long, which does suggest that Cena will win at Survivor Series.
However main-eventing WrestleMania does not necessarily mean fighting for the title anymore. Taking on Undertaker and “The Streak” is considered a bigger deal in some quarters, while the man who gets to face a returning Stone Cold Steve Austin—if that ever happens—would have more kudos than any other wrestler on that show.
Raw1007_crop_exact
This would allow at least two big main events at WrestleMania—Punk against whoever and Rock verses Cena II— which would be even more lucrative for the company.
It is likely that this decision as to who should take on Rock is a dilemma that WWE’s officials are struggling with right now.
Of course the belt could change at Tables, Ladders and Chairs, but this is unlikely. The WWE will want some finality to the CM Punk verses Cena feud before reintroducing Rock into the situation, which means a singles rematch between the two wrestlers involved in the decision at Survivor Series.
So there is no certainty over who will win at Survivor Series, although it is almost definitely won’t be Ryback. The most probable winner will be CM Punk—surviving until the Royal Rumble—where he will get his legends payoff match against The Rock.
The one thing that can be said for definite is that this is exciting booking from the WWE as it has everyone guessing.

Steve Austin Says He’s Physically Able to Wrestle

Steve Austin Says He’s Physically Able to Wrestle

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin appeared on Busted Open with Dave Lagreca and Doug Mortman. The program airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on Sirius 92 and XM 208 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., visit www.facebook.com/bustedopen for more information. Highlights from the interview are as follows:
Could he ever be medically cleared to wrestle again?: “It’s not even about being cleared. I’m 100 percent fine. Once I had my fusion done in 2000 and I went into the recovery phase and then got back in the ring, everything was fine and dandy. I was just running too hard towards the end and had a few issues. It was time to get out. Passing the physical isn’t the issue.”
Is CM Punk the only guy he would come back for to wrestle?: “I think John Cena would be a guy as well. I really like John. He is the face of that company right now and he has done a hell of a job and I got a lot of respect for him. You look at a guy like Triple H, that was one of my favorite guys to work in the ring with. Such a ring general and such a pro. Just an easy night at the office. Undertaker is kind of beat to shreds, kind of like me. Those would be a few guys off the top of my head. Would it just be CM Punk? No. I told you i would like to face John Cena. He is so impressive guy in the ring. he has done alot than any superstar in this Era. I like John Cenaand I have no problem working with him in the ring

WWE Survivor Series Matches Potentially Revealed

Next
Wwe_survivor_series_0002_crop_exact Image courtesy of WWE
Since 1987, the Survivor Series extravaganza has been an annual staple of WWE.
It started out as a Thanksgiving tradition featuring multi-man tag team competition, became synonymous with the "Screwjob" in 1997 and, just last year, it highlighted The Rock's return to in-ring action.
The 2012 Survivor Series, according to PWinsider.com, has the potential to be another memorable show built around the end of a historic rivalry between the two biggest names in WWE:
Local advertising in Indianapolis for the 2012 Survivor Series PPV is built around a tease for the end of John Cena's feud with CM Punk for the WWE title.
The verbiage also implied Ryback and Big Show would be captaining Survivor Series teams.
It seems logical that Punk and Cena would reengage their feud, which was left in limbo at Night of Champions 2012.
As many recall, Punk retained his title in controversial fashion off a double-pin-ending draw, which would have led to a final duel between the "Best in the World" and Cena at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
Of course, because of an ill-timed arm injury, Cena was shelved and replaced by breakout star Ryback, who has been amassing momentum with each passing episode of Raw.
Thus, because of Ryback's newfound popularity, WWE may decide to break off from its seemingly original plans as alluded to in the Indianapolis ad.
Such a notion is, in fact, gaining traction as the WWE creative team is strongly considering having Ryback unseat Punk's reign at Hell in a Cell (h/t F4WOnline.com).
As a consequence, the company could always provide closure to the Punk-Cena dynamic at another time, perhaps when the heel/face roles are reversed.
However, if the WWE brain trust is intent on maintaining its "linear" course, Ryback will likely have to settle for a feud with Big Show before realizing any WWE Championship dreams.

Backstage News On Ryback vs. CM Punk Finish At HIAC, WWE’s Feelings On Ryback’s Streak Read more: http://www.pwmania.com/backstage-news-ryback-vs-cm-punk-finish-hiac-wwes-feelings-rybacks-streak#ixzz2AVIrvYUe

cmpunk-ryback
WWE officials have decided on a finish for Ryback vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title at Sunday’s Hell In a Cell pay-per-view but the source adds that it could change between now and then, according to a new report from F4Wonline.com.
At one point, CM Punk was scheduled to win the match. The feeling was that of Ryback being undefeated and Punk’s run as WWE Champion, Punk’s streak is more important in the sense that they’re building to WrestleMania season with Punk, The Rock and John Cena. Punk going into the Royal Rumble as WWE Champion for one year will be better than him going into the pay-per-view after trading the title with Ryback just months earlier.
It’s believed that breaking Ryback’s streak isn’t the best thing for him but his run has never been built around being undefeated anyway. There’s a feeling that if Ryback loses at Hell In a Cell, as long as they go right back to pushing him super strong and have him run through everyone, he can be rehabbed.
It should noted that the source reported that the finish to the match had been changed again before being decided on. Meaning that both Ryback and Punk at one point have been penciled in as winning within the last four days. Word is that regardless of what happens at Hell In a Cell, Punk will be the WWE Champion going into his match with The Rock at Royal Rumble.

LEGENDARY wrestler Sting wants a match with The UNDERTAKER

Sting: He’s Mag-ic

Sting
LEGEND ... Sting

LEGENDARY wrestler Sting has named the two men he’d still like to go one-on-one with – The Undertaker and British star Magnus.

The Icon almost signed with the WWE last year for a dream WrestleMania bout with Taker, before deciding to stay in his current home of TNA.
He is one of the only headline stars in the modern history of wrestling never to work for Vince McMahon, deciding instead to spend his career with the NWA, WCW and now TNA.
Sting said: “I was close to signing with the WWE. I’d have faced Undertaker at WrestleMania. It wasn’t to be and we couldn’t come to an agreement. He was the only person I’d want to wrestle there.
“I’d like to fight Undertaker, but here in TNA I think I could go well with some of the younger guys too. Especially a guy like Magnus.”
Now aged 53, talk often turns to Sting’s retirement. In fact, his appearances on this January’s TNA UK Tour were billed as his last time ‘wrestling’ in this country.
Talking candidly, he revealed: “You know every year I think this is it and I’m stepping away. Then I get into it and I’m still here.
“This year, especially, I have felt more motivated than ever. I’m having fun out there.
“I think when I do retire from wrestling I would like to work behind the scenes and maybe even do something in creative. I’m really beginning to see things form that side of the camera more.”
When he does step down, Sting has a clear opinion of who should become standard bearers for TNA.
He added: “When I look at the guys and think of who has the ability to step up and be the future stars of TNA I look to people like Magnus, Austin Aries, James Storm and of course the World Champion Bobby Roode.”
“I face Bobby at Slammiversary. I’ve got a new trainer and we are working on a new training regime. That and a new diet will see me back in the shape I was 15 years ago. It’s taking time, but I’m going to be ready for the match.
“Roode is the proof that we are right with our direction. People may say we are using veterans too much, but the ratings show the fans want the mix and our match at Slammiversary proves that.”

10 Longest WWE Championship Reigns of All Time

Billy Graham – 296 Days

“Superstar” Billy Graham was unlike anything the world of professional wrestling had ever seen before, and although underrated and often unrecognized, he is one of the most influential personalities in the history of the sport.
After cutting his teeth in Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling, Graham joined the WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation) in 1975 and almost instantly catapulted to the top of the company.  Managed by The Grand Wizard, Graham stunned the world when he upset long reigning heavyweight champion Bruno Sammartino on April 30, 1977. Graham reigned nearly an entire year before losing the world championship to Bob Backlund on February 20, 1978.
So what made Graham special you asked? Other than ending Sammartino’s four year championship run, Graham added a pizazz to professional wrestling than previously was non-existent. He modernized a sport that for too long had been archaic and old-fashioned. His tie-dye clothes and over the top personality enraged fans. Graham also was the first heel (bad guy) world champion to act as more than a transitional champion. His reign had many title defenses across the world and featured many stellar matches. To this day, no heel world champion has reigned longer than the original bad guy, Billy Graham.

Diesel – 358 Days

From the moment Diesel made his debut as the biker-thug manager of Shawn Michaels, you knew he would be a major star in the sport. The athletic former college basketball star was never a technician on the mats, but his mammoth size and intimidating look made her the perfect addition to Vince McMahon’s 1990’s WWF roster.
Although many may have seen a bright future for the Michigan native, few saw “Big Daddy Cool” defeating then world champion Bob Backlund in an astonishing 7 seconds at a Madison Square Garden house show coming. We were not far removed from 75 minute broadways in Shea Stadium, but this was the new world of professional wrestling. Match quality and technical skills were put on the backburner for looks and personality.
Diesel and Bret Hard had many entertaining clashes throughout 1995, but it wasn’t until the 1995 Survivor Series that Hart was able to capture the world title back. Shortly thereafter, Diesel skipped town and headed for the greener pastures of WCW, and the rest as they say is history.

Hulk Hogan – 364 Days

We’ll get to Hulk Hogan’s initial reign later in the list, but first we have to talk about Hogan’s second title reign. In perhaps Hogan’s finest hour, he and Randy Savage faced off in an epic clash of “The Mega Powers” at WrestleMania 5.
Savage had won the world championship in a tournament at the previous WrestleMania and the relationship between him and Hogan had gone sour over the intermittent year. When they finally met, the two put on an epic performance not soon to be forgotten. In the end, Hogan walked away with his second world championship.
Hogan lost the title in a match that, by all assumptions, should have been a stinker. Neither The Ultimate Warrior nor Hulk Hogan were known for their technical prowess between the ropes. Both were impressive personalities that had captured the wrestling public.
The two put on an incredible performance inside Toronto’s Skydome in front of one of the largest and most electric crowds in pro wrestling history. Hogan handing the WWE Championship to the Ultimate Warrior signified a new era in professional wrestling.

Randy Savage – 371 Days

There are many different ways you can choose to remember “The Macho Man.” You can remember his “Macho King” days, his over the top promos, his ultra-protective relationship with Elizabeth, or his phenomenal clash with Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania III. When I think of Savage however, it’s the WrestleMania IV tournament final against Ted Dibiase that comes to mind.
It was the beginning of a well-deserved and emotional reign as world champion for one of the greatest performers pro wrestling ever saw. With the deck stacked against him, Savage overcame the odds to become WWE Champion on a night that seemed to be heading in Dibiase’s favour throughout. Savage was at the top of his game when he landed the flying elbow on Dibiase and was hoisted on Hogan’s shoulders.
As previously mentioned, the relationship between Savage and Hogan quickly went sour. Jealousy issues tore “The Mega Powers” apart and resulted in their bout at Wrestlemania V.

John Cena – 380 Days

Whether you love him or hate him, few create more drama than John Cena.
It was his third reign as WWE Champion that seemingly began the separation between Cena’s fans and haters. Perhaps defeating Edge in his hometown for the WWE championship was a poor way to start, or perhaps today’s fans do not have the attention span for long world title reigns. Either way, Cena’s 380 day world title reign in 2006-2007 left few satisfied.
When Cena finally vacated the WWE Championship on October 2007, it was a breath of fresh air for many fans in search of a new face of the WWE.

Pedro Morales – 1,027 Days

Many could see that Morales was on the fast track to the main event early on in his WWWF run. His dashing good looks combined with his size and wrestling skill made him a natural heavyweight contender, and with Ivan Koloff knocking off Bruno Sammartino, the cards were in his favour.
Only three weeks after capturing the WWF Championship, Koloff was defeated by the emerging Pedro Morales. The Puerto-Rican star reigned for nearly three years, feuding with Larry Hennig and Stan Stasiak as well as taking part in the infamous 75 minute draw with Sammartino in 1972. Morales eventually lost the WWF Championship to Stasiak on December 1, 1973.

Bruno Sammartino – 1,237 Days

Bruno Sammartino seems to be a name forgotten by pro wrestling history. Whether you want to blame Sammartino’s stubbornness or Vince McMahon’s holding of a grudge is beside the point;  Sammartino was a great two-time WWF Champion  and one of the greatest of all time.
Sammartino’s second reign lasted 1,237 days. Although longer than most, it paled in comparison with his initial title run (we’ll get to that later).
Sammartino defeated Stan Stasiak to begin his second reign, only nine days after Stasiak captured the world title from Pedro Morales. He reigned until April 30, 1977 when the previously mentioned Billy Graham defeated the heralded champion.

Hulk Hogan – 1,474 Days

Perhaps the most recognizable name in the history of professional wrestling, Hulk Hogan will forever be remembered for bringing wrestling to the masses. Instead of a fringe entertainment act that drew sports fans, pro wrestling became a phenomenon in the last 1980’s. Hogan was everywhere; movies, televisions shows and the like.
On January 23, 1984 everything changed for pro wrestling. It was the night Hulk Hogan defeated the Iron Shiek in the middle of the ring. It’s a clip you’ve likely seen 100 times. It was the night Hulkamania was born.
Hogan reigned until a controversial ending with his encounter with Andre The Giant rendered the WWE Championship vacant.

Bob Backlund – 2,135 Days

Bob Backlund is a puzzling figure in the world of pro wrestling. Despite having all the raw, natural athleticism and talent one could ask for, he never seemed to be able to grab the crowd’s attention.
Although many modern wrestling fans will remember Backlund for his bizarre comeback in 1993-1995, it was his initial run in the late 1970’s where he captured the WWF Championship.
After having multiple entertaining matches with the flashy “Superstar” Eddie Graham, Backlund finally captured the championship on February 20, 1978 in a classic between the two. Backlund’s title run featured many interesting matches, including a draw with NWA World Champion Harley Race, matches in Japan with Antonio Inoki as the height of his popularity, and matches with catch wrestling icon Billy Robinson.
Backlund’s world title reign ended in dramatic fashion as The Iron Shiek locked in the camel clutch and, refusing to quit, manager Arnold Skaaland was forced to throw in the towel.

Bruno Sammartino – 2,803

We told you his second title reign paled in comparison. Sammartino’s nearly 3000 day run as world champion is the longest in history and if we had to guess, we’d say it’s a record that will never come close to being broken.
It took Sammartino only 48 seconds to defeat “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers on May 17, 1963. It was a shocking affair to see the title change hands in quick fashion, but it truly displayed how dominant and talented Sammartino really was. He was charismatic, technically sound and loved by the fans, everything a promoter could ask for.
Sammartino fought and conquered all of the biggest heels of his day. Killer Kowalski, Giant Baba, Gorilla Monsoon and Gene Kiniski are just some of the names Sammartino dominated during his run. One name he couldn’t get through, however, was Ivan Koloff, as “The Russian Bear” dropped a big knee off the top rope, ending a nearly eight year world title reign.

Brock Lesnar Plans to return on PPV Hell in a cell, Will he cost Rayback to lose to Cm Punk?

Hi-res-5932628_crop_exact Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE
WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 28, and the rumors of former UFC and WWE champion Brock Lesnar making another return to the company has enveloped the wrestling world over the last few weeks.
With CM Punk squaring off with an unproven commodity like Ryback—in addition to the fact that a clean win for either man destroys the other’s current momentum—the return of Lesnar to convolute the ending may be the company’s only option.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting via WrestleZone about the talk of Lesnar’s inclusion at Sunday’s PPV and the problems that it would cause:
One idea being heavily discussed is Brock Lesnar coming out and costing Ryback the match. This would cause some problems for the WWE, including another wasted date and Triple H's revenge on Lesnar being put on hold. Either way, WWE will most likely have to come up with multiple ideas in the next week to decide on which route to take.
As much as it may end up costing the company more money in the long haul, the WWE must seriously consider including Lesnar in this main event to save two of their biggest stars and the entire Hell in a Cell PPV.
Add in the publicity Lesnar would draw into the following night’s Raw as the company begins to transition to the build for Survivor Series, and a Lesnar return is much more feasible than many fans and experts expected.

John Cena addressed the WWE Universe

John Cena addressed the WWE Universe

PHOTOS | VIDEO
It's safe to say that the WWE Universe was surprised to say the least when John Cena stepped aside to allow Ryback to sign the No. 1 contender's contract last week on Raw. And this week, in the shadow of MetLife Stadium, the Cenation leader stepped into the ring not to expound upon his decision, but to give the WWE Universe a preview, in his own words, of what they can expect at Hell in a Cell.
And what, exactly, did the historic main event of Hell in a Cell hold in store? To put it simply: "change."
"Change is 6-foot 3," Cena said. "Change is 291 pounds, and when 'change' sets foot into this ring, all he can hear over and over again is 'FEED ME MORE!' "
Before Cena could continue, though, the riff of "Cult of Personality" rumbled through the loudspeakers and the WWE Champion strutted out, 337 days atop the mountain under his belt and looking thoroughly bemused at what he called Cena's "new role" of being "Ryback's personal cheerleader," not to mention the supposed greatness of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants (it is truly hard to be a Second City Saint in the city).
And regarding change? "I've been WWE Champion for 337 days and counting, which means you haven't been champion for a lot longer than that," Punk said. "And that is change you can count on."
"Everybody knows when CM Punk makes a promise, he keeps it, and I promise I will walk out of Hell in a Cell still the WWE Champion."
Cena, however, had heard enough. Riled up by Punk's insults, Cena turned the subject of conversation to another recent hot topic: his injured elbow. He would not be interfering in Punk's scheduled title match at Hell in a Cell, but as for tonight, "Regarding yours truly, I am 100 percent medically cleared," the Cenation leader said, flexing his elbow for emphasis and inviting Punk into the ring for an impromptu rumble down the Turnpike.
And for a minute, it looked like Punk would acquiesce to Cena's request. But eventually, the warning shrieks of Paul Heyman won out and the champion strode back to the locker room, a smile on his face and title held high.

Is AJ Lee the worst GM of all time?

AJ Lee
To answer the headline to this story, no. The worst General Manager in history is Mike Adamle by a long shot. In the aftermath of AJ Lee’s shocking resignation on Monday Night Raw, however, it’s worth wondering where the now-former authority figure would rank among the most ineffective and eccentric leaders in the history of Monday night’s hottest show, including the likes of Eric Bischoff, “Mr. Excitement” John Laurinaitis and that notorious aforementioned mangler of monikers.
The reign of a Raw General Manager averages to about 205 days, and although that time period isn’t lengthy by any means, AJ Lee bowed out at 92 days — less than half the average. Granted, AJ’s all-too-brief tenure as GM has been fraught with peril since taking on these new responsibilities in July, but how many of those problems were the result of AJ’s own unhinged decision-making process? From attacking Vickie Guerrero to forcing Kane and her fiancé Daniel Bryan to undergo anger management therapy to slapping Paul Heyman across the face, AJ has made business very personal on Raw, and the WWE Board of Directors has been keeping a very close eye on her for good reason.
It was AJ’s notorious inability to separate her business and personal lives that would ultimately spell the end of her reign as Raw GM. On Monday night, the feisty Diva — whom the WWE Board placed on probation in early October — announced that her self-ousting is due to allegations of fraternizing with a Superstar on the roster. That Superstar was later revealed to be John Cena, who recently had a “business dinner” with the Raw GM. Both AJ and the Cenation leader denied that anything salacious transpired during or after that meal, but Mr. McMahon affirmed that there was “incriminating evidence” that left the WWE Board with no choice but to ask AJ for her resignation. This conspicuous turn of events put Guerrero in place to serve as Raw’s Managing Supervisor, a role that will no doubt work in her favor when a new General Manager is ultimately appointed.
Coincidences are rare in WWE, especially when The Queen Diva is involved, but what if there was more to that dinner than AJ and Cena are letting on? If AJ’s fraternization with Cena went beyond a mere business dinner — while she was on probation, no less — then the title of “Worst GM Ever” just might have a new No. 1 contender. (POLL: WAS AJ LEE SET UP?)
Although it remains unclear exactly what transpired during that evening repast with the 12-time World Champion, the unorthodox Diva noted on Raw that she’s aware that she’s been on thin ice for quite some time. With AJ’s admission of her shortcomings, it’s difficult to blame her too harshly for not living up to the loftiest of expectations. She might not have made a major impact as Raw GM, but at least she never subjected the WWE Universe to so-called “People Power,” interrupted Raw broadcasts with incessant emails or waxed poetic about the likes of “MC Punk” or “Randy Norton.” Sorry, Mr. Adamle.
So what’s next for AJ? The unpredictable Diva explained on Raw that she’s gone “from being homeless to being the boss,” due in no small part to her lifelong tenacity. Now that AJ is no longer running Raw, her schedule has certainly opened up, and judging by her hair-pulling brawl with Raw’s new Managing Supervisor, her buttoned-up lifestyle has hardly hindered her fighting spirit. Perhaps the most exciting chapter of the AJ Lee saga is about to begin.\

Who Should Be The Undertaker's Wrestlemania 29 Opponent?

Every year after the Undertaker extends his Wrestlemania streak after the excitement of a great match and the extension of a great accomplishment is made, people start to wonder who his next Wrestlemania opponent will be. This year is no different. The Undertaker made HHH his latest Wrestlemania victim in the End of An Era match at Wrestlemania 28. This was the third time that the Undertaker beat HHH at Wrestlemania. Now who will his next Wrestlemania opponent be?

A report came out a short while ago that the WWE has three possible opponents for the Undertaker. They are: John Cena, The Rock and Brock Lesnar. The WWE is leaving the choice up to him on who he would like to face. The two people that he doesn't choose to face would then face each other at Wrestlemania.

These would all be good opponents for the Undertaker to face. All three are big names who would draw a lot of fans and excitement towards the match.

The Rock
A match up of The Rock vs. The Undertaker would be huge. It would be a throwback to the Attitude Era. For the fans like myself who grew up watching wrestling during the Attitude Era, this would be a welcomed match up. The Rock would be the biggest threat to his Wrestlemania streak that he has ever had. The Rock would bring his millions of fans and even more fans who love to see Attitude Era guys face each other back in front of their TV screens to watch wrestling even if it is just for a short time.

It would be a match up of two men who are great for different reasons. The Rock is superb on the mic. His mic skills are second to none. He's talented in the ring as well. As for the Undertaker, he fears no one. He's fought the best and he's beaten the best. He and Stone Cold Steve Austin are the two baddest men in WWE history. And you know that The Rock isn't going to back down from the Undertaker so you have a match up of two of the all time greats on the biggest stage of them all, Wrestlemania.

Brock Lesnar

This would be an intriguing match up because of the beef that these two had about 10 years ago. Lesnar had quite the attitude and with the Undertaker being a locker room leader, the two had several off the television arguments. Despite this these two had a great rivalry back in 2002/2003. These two are still capable of putting on a good match. The build up to this match could be fantastic especially since the WWE would have Lesnar on TV almost every week since most if his appearances would be used during the build up to Wrestlemania.

John Cena

This would be a match up of the WWE's number one man against The Phenom. The Undertaker and Cena haven't had many matches against each other. They haven't wrestled against each other since 2003. If this match up happened then it would be the first time that the Undertaker has faced the company's number one guy at Wrestlemania. It would be his biggest threat towards his Wrestlemania streak.

If there is anybody on the current roster that could end the Undertaker's Streak, it is Cena. A victory over the Undertaker at Wrestlemania would wipe the bad taste out of Cena's mouth after his loss to the Rock at Wrestlemania 28. The build up to this match would be huge because of the fan base that Cena has built up over the 10 years he has been in the WWE. His kid followers would flock to see if their hero could do something that nobody else has done before and that's beat the Undertaker at Wreslemania.

WWE SUMMARY ON WHO TO END THE DEADMAN'S STREAK

According to WWE board of directors, they say if there is any one who can be granted that opportunity to end the deadman's streak at Wrestlemania it should be the man who is more valuable to the company. The man who has stood there every night, the man who delivers all that he has got, the man who has carried WWE flag higher for many years. when i had that then my minds ran quickly to the 10time WWE champion John Cena, and yes no doudbt for that Cena has done it all and he should be the one to do it. But the question is when? Cena will be granted that opportunity the moment deadman will say he is done and he wants to leave wrestling, then Cena will be granted the opportunity to end the streak for deadman. It might not be wrestlemania29 but if there is someone to do it is John Cena. Reason Cena has always respected deadman, they are friends and deadman respects him too and he will not hesitate to do anything for John Cena. Reason deadman loves WWE as much as John Cena does. And they have worked together for a long time.

John Cena the Biggest Star WWE's Ever Had?

Next
Cenatitlecopy_crop_exact
You can make the case that John Cena could be the biggest star WWE's ever had.
Yes he is, and no one can take that away from him.
John Cena is the most talented “wrestler.” in WWE history. It's only part of the equation, but in this interview I did with legend Dominic DeNucci, he talks about what it takes to be a good in-ring performer, and to me, Cena has got everything a professional superstar needs to have.

Cena is believed to be the most talented superstar in the history which you cant take him away without cheating. Another way that you can win Cena in the ring is by script, without script you cant beat up Cena. He has proved it in many occasions, take a look at John Cena's match against Cm Punk. It is beleived that all the matches that punk has ever had with Cena they are all script for Punk to Win.

John Cena, Stone Cold and Hulk Hogan. Three names I think many, including myself, would agree represent separate eras in WWE/WWF. Stone Cold and Hulk Hogan are the three names that would most rival Cena in a debate for the title of WWE's biggest star ever, in popular opinion.

Stone Cold Steve Austin was the face of the attitude era. The pop he got when the glass broke was incredible, with fans waiting to hear him drop an expletive and give a stunner to anyone who came within reach. I've always been a huge Austin fan. He was my favorite while he was an active wrestler.
Right now, wrestling has to compete against the legit appeal of Mixed Martial Arts. Chris Benoit, concussions, kids getting hurt in their backyards – all black marks critics, justifiably or unjustifiably, will quickly associate to wrestling and WWE whenever they can. Stone Cold was the top guy in the most profitable of times for the industry, but John Cena has sustained a positive, charitable image in pop culture in the midst of many challenges for the genre.

Stone Cold had a lot of entertaining talent to work with during his run. He also was involved in entertaining stories. Today, WWE isn't known for developing the same kind of top notch talent or quality storylines – but John Cena still became a star.

I'm not going to deny Cena's had some ridiculous, heroic comebacks in matches. I do believe in “Super Cena” at times. But remember, it's a pre-determined fight, determined by those in power.

Then there's Hulk Hogan. He was the man before there were men. By the way, if you're still held up from the start of this piece on John Cena's in-ring abilities, go ahead and try convincing yourself Hogan was a better “wrestler” than him. Let me know how that works out for you.

Hogan was the first to take an attraction like Andre The Giant off of his feet and slam him. During the territory days, there were big fish in smaller ponds, but Hogan became the biggest fish in the ocean the WWE created. Reality shows and sex tapes can never erase his accomplishments. Hogan was the first to do a lot of things in the sport on a big stage. This is part of his allure. He was first.

Next came Austin. The years 1980 to 2005 saw tremendous milestones and evolution. Twenty-five years worth of trying to do something new, creative, memorable. Hogan and Austin were involved in much of this.

To me, it's all the more impressive that Cena has had to follow all of that. He didn't have the luxury of being first to take a star who was never seen on the defensive like Andre was and beat him in front of 93,000. Cena didn't have the luxury of being the first to hit his finisher on the owner of a company. The list of things Cena wasn't able to do first goes on and on. Through all of it, he has found a way to be the polarizing figure he is to the audience.

Given Hogan and Austin's status, logically we shouldn't be able to make a decision on who is the greatest until Cena's active career as a wrestler with WWE is over. Cena is 35, has years left in the tank, he is only going to continue to draw money.

In wrestling, you aim to get a reaction. No reaction to what you say or do is the worst thing possible for an in-ring performer.

Great accomplishment to be loved by so many. Great accomplishment to be hated by so many. Is it the GREATEST accomplishment to be the most loved and hated by the audience all at once?

Will CM Punk Be Suspended; My Thoughts, WWE Tag Tournament Outcome, McMahon Sends A Message

Given Chris Jericho was suspended for the infamous flag incident in Brazil, do you see CM Punk getting suspended for hitting a fan?
WWE is gathering all the information and we can confirm a police report was filed. Chris Jericho was suspended to save-face from negative publicity so it’s obviously a possibility. Had it been someone lower on the card, they could have faced termination. Given the fact it was Punk I don’t look for that to happen but I don’t see how he gets out of this one without facing repercussions.
What is your take on CM Punk striking the fan?
There is no excuse to ever get physical with a fan. We could try and make an argument that the fan “deserved it” but Punk assaulted the wrong fan. The one pestering him walked away unscathed while the tape shows an incident onlooker got struck and his glasses broke. However, I’m not going to put the blame completely on Punk, as event staff and security are at fault for not containing the crowd around Punk. It’s their job to keep the workers safe when they go into the crowd and they failed at that on Raw. With that being said workers have a responsibility to remain composed no matter what.
If the winners of the tag team tournament don’t win the WWE Tag Team Championship, will that make the entire competition pointless? Or is it very predictable they will win so to avoid such scrutiny?
Most readers seem to be happy with the renewed emphasis placed on the tag team division so I do not think a successful defense from Team Hell No renders the tournament pointless. Tournaments are fun for a change of pace and in this case, helped a division that has been forgot about in recent years.
With Vince McMahon giving up his body on this week’s WWE Raw for the good of the product, is this a signal to everyone else to “step it up”?
Lost in the CM Punk incident is the fact this week’s WWE Raw had an outstanding ending. Vince McMahon showed he can still get over as good as anyone on the roster, Ryback has turned the corner and drew great crowd reactions and I was entertained throughout the show’s main event. I absolutely think Vince was sending a message with his work and the fact he can use himself to increase interest is pretty remarkable in itself.

Fan That Was Attacked By CM Punk Files Police Report

Fan That Was Attacked By CM Punk Files Police Report

The fan that CM Punk hit at WWE Raw this week filed a report with Sacramento police. He claims his glasses were broke during the assault by the WWE Champion. Below a Tweet from Laura Cole, a reporter from CBS 13, who interviewed the fan: This fan says his face is a little warm after punk shamelessly attacked him. WWE universe is wondering whether punk should take angry management class just like his fellow wrestlers Daniel Brian and Kane did. many people ask questions about the behavior of punk forcing people to respect him. Punk will never earn any respect in his carrier in WWE.

John Cena’s Ring Gear, Crimson In TNA, WWE Profiled Behind-The-Scenes, Brock Lesnar’s Next Match

Why does WWE change John Cena’s ring gear so often?
The short answer is it sells. Every time WWE introduces a new John Cena t-shirt design or color, take a moment to scan the audience. You’ll see it all over the arena and this is the reason WWE refuses to touch his character.
What has happened with Crimson in TNA?
Crimson is still under contract with TNA Wrestling, working in Ohio Valley Wrestling (TNA’s official developmental territory) and occasional live events. TNA spent a lot of time building him up as a dominant superstar, giving him a 470-day undefeated streak only to end it and send him to developmental. I can’t explain the logic other than they wanted him to get seasoned, as he is the current OVW Heavyweight Champion.

Do you think that Vince McMahon would do a show like Hard Knocks for the WWE? Now that its called entertainment and most watchers know its not real, then why not pulled curtain back and show us fans how the day-to-day operation works.
When I first read this question I immediately recalled “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s interview on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” in 2003 where he made controversial remarks that led to WWE ceasing to use him. Vince has generally welcomed documentary type shows to follow WWE so I don’t see why he wouldn’t welcome the publicity. Vince would make sure viewers only saw what he wanted them to see but I don’t see him shying away from publicity as long as it’s not negative in nature.

Is there any chance Brock Lesnar works another match before the end of the year?
I was told right after SummerSlam it was likely that Brock Lesnar would work Survivor Series in November but I have heard little since. Lesnar still has plenty of dates on his WWE contract and given The Rock is confirmed for Royal Rumble, it seems likely to happen. With that being said I do not have any new information on a possible opponent.

Breaking News: John Cena Is the Best Wrestler in the World

Before this article gets underway, let me just say I understand this will probably incite some heated and passionate responses. Keep it clean and try to avoid the tired 'Cena sucks' response. I look forward to any comments and any feedback you are willing to give.
The Raw opening has aired and the fireworks have been set off. The crowd is waiting in silent anticipation of the night's first act. Then, without warning, his entrance music explodes over the PA system and the WWE Universe erupts. The majority cheer the impending appearance of their favorite Superstar while others, mainly members of the ever-valuable 18-to-35 demographic, can be heard jeering him. Like a bullet ejected from the chamber of a nine millimeter, he shoots through the curtain and out onto the stage. He salutes the fans and takes off on a sprint towards the ring. The excitement in the arena is at a fever pitch. He is adored by many across the globe and despised nearly as much by others.
He is John Cena and like it or not, he is the best wrestler in the world.
There is a common misconception made regularly by fans across the internet. The term "best wrestler in the world" is often applied to outstanding in-ring workers such as the current United States Champion Daniel Bryan, the currently-on-hiatus Chris Jericho, or any number of performers employed by Total Nontop Action, Ring of Honor, or Dragon Gate. While these athletes deserves accolades for their in-ring performances, none can convincingly lay claim to being the best wrestler on the planet.
Often times, largely within the internet fan base, it is forgotten that professional wrestling is so much more than the display of technical prowess, the use of submission holds discovered in MMA camps and forty-five variations of the suplex. It incorporates the interviews leading to the matches, the marketing done to promote the events, and the outside media projects that allow the performers to gain more exposure and, as a result, help the company grow.
In reality, despite what many may believe, the in-ring product is but a small fraction of what makes a wrestler the best in the world at what he does.
The most common of criticisms regarding John Cena is his apparent lack of wrestling skills. Some even say he wouldn't know the difference between a wist lock and a wrist watch. Those same critics have clearly forgotten the the wrestling "masterpieces" engaged in by the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, and Mick Foley. All four men were lacking in wrestling ability. The main event matches they appeared in were either brawls or punch and kick affairs with little or no sign of actual wrestling ability. Their best matches were often the ones in which their opponents had a more varied skills set.
Cena on the other hand, has proven his ability to have very good, or in some cases great matches with a variety of different performers. The matches he had with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Randy Orton and Edge were as good as expected and are fondly remembered today. But good matches with Superstars like those four proves nothing. It is Cena's early-to-mid 2007 string of matches that serves as evidence of his greatness inside the ropes.
The majority of 2007 was interesting for WWE. With major injuries sidelining mega-stars such as Triple H, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker for significant periods of the year, Cena was trusted to carry the company on his shoulders. The question was, who was left to challenge him for the championship?
The answer would come in the form of two very green newcomers and a veteran in-ring performer who had yet to fully get over as the monster heel he had been positioned as. Rather than share the ring with established, veteran ring generals like Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Edge, Cena was forced into matches with the likes of Umaga, the Great Khali and Bobby Lashley. To this day, Cena's matches with these men remain, individually, the best matches of their careers. As a matter of fact, many consider the Last Man Standing match with Umaga at the 2007 Royal Rumble pay-per-view one of the best in the historic event's history, as well as the only major competition to the Cena-Michaels series for match of the year.
A year later, Cena had a phenomenal match with Batista despite suffering from a neck injury. In 2006, Cena had what can be surprised as the single greatest performance of his career as he defended the WWE Championship in a very good, Attitude Era-esque match against Rob Van Dam in front of a bloody-thirsty, riot-threatening pack of ECW fans in New York. John Cena's abilities to get the very most out of a lesser quality opponent or a hostile environment is just a sample of what makes him the phenomenal performer he has become. He is a craftsman and artist that has mastered a formula that has catapulted Rock, Austin, Hart, Michaels and Hogan to the top of the industry.
Cenagillette_crop_340x212
John Cena learned a long time ago to camouflage his weaknesses to the point that you could not see them and then accentuate his positives. He is a believable face who can create sympathy when he is on the receiving end of a beat down and excitement when he finally makes his Herculean comeback. And for the critics complaining about his aura of invincibility, that he always manages an explosive comeback no matter who or how many have beaten on him throughout the match, there are several well-known, highly-decorated Superstars who established themselves and made a career out of following this tried and true formula.
Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock have all played the role of "main event baby face who overcomes the odds to emerge victorious." From Hogan single-handedly defeating the Big Bossman and Akeem after his tag team partner abandoned him, to Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart withstanding a major beating from and ultimately defeating wrestlers much larger than them, to Stone Cold and The Rock tearing through the members of the dastardly Mr. McMahon's Corporation, all five legends in the professional wrestling world have achieved the level of success they have because of the same formula Cena utilizes today.
These men used the formula to their benefit, telling a story the fans could understand and willingly bought into and invested themselves in. The heel worked the face over before the ultimate good guy stormed back with a series of signature move set before the finishing move sent the fans home happy. These men stayed at the top of their craft until there was a new star ready to take their place. John Cena finds himself in that spot, telling the same story. Whether the formula is flawed is an entirely separate argument for an entirely separate article. But it is both insane and irresponsible to put the blame of a tired formula at the feet of one man.
Luckily for Cena, he is not left to the mercy of the formula. His out-of-ring presence has led him to become perhaps the most immediately recognizable star the business has left.
It is nearly impossible to flip through any of the hundreds of channels provided by your cable company without seeing John Cena's image. Whether it be a pay-per-view event spot, a Gillette razor commercial, a Mattel action figure ad or the re-airing of any of his three WWE Studios films, Cena is everywhere.
He has graced hundreds of magazine, video game, and DVD covers. He is the face of Topps' WWE trading card line. He has played guest analyst on ESPN's Sports Center, College Football Live, First Take and Sports Nation. He's been invited to several major sporting events and served as the grand Marshall of the 2010 Fiesta Bowl between Boise State and TCU.
Cena's continued presence in multiple forms of media has allowed the outside world to familiarize themselves not only with Cena himself but also with his employers, the WWE. His real life superhero/G.I. Joe looks and his rather wholesome appearance allows parents to trust that he is a positive role model for their children.
John Cena has become an idol to fans across the globe. Much like Superman or Batman or any other DC or Marvel comic book superhero, Cena teaches kids that if you stick to your morals and work hard, you can and will succeed regardless of any obstacles or road blocks put in your path. He is the pure good guy that any fan can relate to. He beats up the bad guys and does not back away from a fight.
For the two or three hours he is on the screen every week, fans can forget whatever else is going on in their lives and escape reality. They can cheer Cena because his character is a symbol of hope that no obstacle is insurmountable. It is a character as simple as Cena's that is why we became wrestling fans in the first place.
It remains unknown whether or not Cena will drive in the ratings, the pay-per-view buys or revenue that his predecessors did. Where Cena takes his place among the all-time greats is also unknown. What is known is that Cena's greatness cannot be measured by the flawed system employed by the majority of smart marks populating the internet. It is about the culmination of every facet of the industry into one complete package.
Hulk Hogan was that package in the 1980's and Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock in the 1990's. John Cena is the greatest wrestler in the world today because he goes above and beyond the call of simply performing night in and night out inside the ring. He is an ambassador for the sport, and one day, when Cena is no longer performing for the WWE fans, each and every one of those who took the time to sit back and appreciate his work will respect him for his greatness and the legacy he left behind.

Cena Introduces wwe tittle

WWE News: John Cena Returns to Raw This Week

Next

That's right folks, just when you thought it was safe to watch Monday Night Raw, John Cena returns.
It appears after last week's worst rating in 15 years, that the WWE realizes how much of a commodity Cena is. Don't get me wrong, I am not a Cena fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I gotta admit the guy has clout when it comes to bringing home the bacon.
According to Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, available to F4WOnline.com subscribers (via WrestlingInc.com):
As noted before, John Cena will indeed be live at Monday's RAW from Sacramento, California. Cena has announced a Monday morning appearance on syndicated talk show "Live with Kelly & Michael." Cena posted a Tout video that indicated his interview for Kelly & Michael was pre-taped this weekend. No word yet if that's the case but if not, he will have to fly from New York to California on Monday.F4Wonline.com reports that Cena originally was going to miss RAW this week but that changed when the low RAW rating came out last week. As noted, Vince McMahon's return is another direct response to the low rating.
This has gotta be a tough pill to swallow for the rest of WWE's main-event roster. Especially considering, this was a huge test to see if the WWE can go Cena-less until he was fully healed. Now that we know they can't, one has to wonder if they are finally going to announce Punk-Cena at Hell in a Cell.
Overall, the WWE has an extremely talented roster. Unfortunately, they haven't done enough to put over current WWE champ CM Punk to let fans know that he is more than a suitable replacement for Cena. That being said, one has to wonder if Punk's WWE championship run will be coming to an end sooner than later.
Speaking strictly business, the WWE has to do all they can to make sure their champion is a draw in all aspects. Let's face it, you can't have the face of the company turning people away. I, for one, am a Punk fan and truly feel the WWE machine has put some of its weight behind him.
However, unlike Cena, they didn't do enough to ensure fans that he was better than or even equal to Cena. The fact is, they elevated Cena above their own title at every pay-per-view for the better part of a year.
Fans tend to notice these things and some begin to wonder if their current champ is on par as the guy who closes the show. In the end, the WWE has some big decisions to make in the coming weeks and keeping the strap on Punk is one of them.
